Keep the lake free for everyone
Donate, volunteer or sponsor. Three ways to keep the water open, tested and free to swim in.
Where the money goes
The Mudlarks have no paid staff and no building. Almost everything raised is spent on the water itself.
Water testing
Fortnightly laboratory samples through the season, monthly through winter — about £2,600 a year.
Rescue equipment
Throw lines, the public rescue cabinet and first aid training for volunteers.
The wall and steps
Re-bedding coping stones after winter storms, and clearing silt from the steps.
Access
The pool hoist, the ramped path and the equipment that gets more people into the water.
Donate
One-off or monthly, any amount. Gift Aid adds 25p to every pound if you are a UK taxpayer, at no cost to you.
£5
A throw line
Buys a metre of rescue line for the cabinet on the wall. Small, and genuinely useful.
Give £5£25
One water test
Covers a full laboratory sample — the single thing swimmers ask us for most.

Keep it going
Regular giving is what lets us plan repairs rather than react to them.
Give monthlyOther ways to give
- Bank transfer — ask us for the details and we will send them over.
- Fundraise for us — swims, walks, quizzes and one memorable sponsored silence. Tell us and we will shout about it.
- In memory — many families ask for donations to the lake. We will add a line to the annual report if you would like one.
- Leave a gift in your will — a few swimmers already have.
Become a volunteer
You do not have to swim, and you do not have to commit to anything. Most volunteers give a morning a month, and a good number of them have never been in the water.
Become a sponsor
Local businesses keep this lake swimmable. Sponsors are credited on the carousel below, on the board at the entrance, and in the annual report.
£750
Season sponsor
Everything above, plus your logo on event materials and a mention at every swim we run.

Name an event
Back the Polar Bear Challenge or the end of season 1km, and put your name on it.
EnquireClubs, schools and community groups sponsor the lake too — often by adopting one job, like the winter silt clearing. Ask us what needs doing.

£2,400 from the Moonlight Swim, a season of water tests paid for by merch, and forty metres of wall re-bedded. All of it came from people who swim here.
